"Michelle Todd stood out for her lively stage presence, highly expressive face and delightful singing"
THE TIMES (LONDON)

Hello and Welcome to my website

As summer draws to a close I invite you to check out the new 2010/11 concert schedule which is updated regularly as new performances are finalized. It promises to be another year of versatile repertoire from oratorio and sacred favourites to  charity galas, orchestral specials and a new programme for younger audiences!

Thank you for all of your support during the summer season and a special welcome if you are visiting my website for the first time after attending one of my recent concerts. It was especially interesting to work with and make new friends in Denmark. What a beautiful and restful country. The Gala in Peasholme Park too was a highlight for me and travelling to the stage (which is set in the middle of the lake) via a white "swan boat" was certainly the most unique entrance I have ever made. The Scarborough Spa Orchestra under Paul Laidlaw were as delightful and talented as ever and this year I was joined by the beautiful voice of Tom Solomon who was a past winner of  the BBC Musical Theatre Voice of the Year. What a talented and amusing man he is. We certainly hope to work together again soon. In the meantime check out his website with details of his upcoming performances at the Royal Opera House studio.www.tomsolomonactor.com

The summer season ended with the privilege of performing at the North American  Unity Awards which for the first time were held in Canada. So many talented musicians and it was a new experience to be part of a live webcast.

Among many upcoming highlights I am happy to announce that Ensemble Resonance will release our first CD to coincide with a concert in Calgary, Canada in October. The recording contains new twentieth century Canadian works for voice, piano, clarinet, violin and electroacoustic accompaniment commissioned for the ensemble. This avante garde classical music has me singing in Portuguese, Chinese, English and even imitating a Chinook wind!!

During the  Advent and Christmas season I will be in Europe singing some of  the world's most beautiful and famous seasonal songs, and also working with one of today's great Christian composer's, Graham Kendrick.

Opera arias and duets will be the focus of a foyer concert at London's newest venue, Kings Place, with trio ARRIA. Our performance will complement a special concert given by visiting artists prior to their performance at the Nobel Peace Prize.
I'll write more about my Canadian and Italian concerts in the upcoming weeks.

In general news, Thank You all for your support and emails last season. AND...thanks to your support my versions of Ave Maria by Mascagni and Caccini continue to stay high in their respective itunes charts!

One of the world's most prestigious music publishing houses- Editions Peters - has recently published a set of Four Theatre Songs for soprano by the British composer Stephen McNeff, texts by playwrite Edward Bond. I performed the world premiere of these songs many years ago in London and I am delighted that they are now available. I highly recommend any classical singer looking for new repertoire to feature these songs in their concert programmes.

In the meantime, if you are traveling in Alberta Canada, and visiting the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, you can experience a new high definition video called "Wildness Revealed" which surrounds the audience with stunning images of that beautiful environment and wildlife. My voice was used in the soundtrack and I was intrigued to hear how the various instruments and voice were mixed and transformed to complement the breathtaking images.

Finally, in answer to an email query- I enjoy the singing styles of many sopranos. I am constantly inspired and intrigued by the work of Renee Fleming, Dawn Upshaw, Barbara Bonney, Christine Shafer, Patricia Petibon, Kathleen Battle, Sumi Jo, Sissel, Sarah Brightman, Katherine Jenkins and Celtic Woman.

Please contact me directly for information about private vocal lessons, adjudicating or masterclass presentations in Canada or UK.

Hope you visit me again soon.
